Sea turtle hatchlings launched in Currimao bay, Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY, Philippines — Not less than 35 child sea turtles from a guarded hatchery in a village in Curimao, Ilocos Norte had been guided again to the wild Wednesday.

Engineer Erickson Biag, Currimao municipal surroundings officer designate, informed the Philippine Information Company in a telephone interview that village officers of Barangay Paguludan are monitoring the pawikan hatchery.

He mentioned the newest batch of launched hatchlings are on prime of the 32 hatchlings that emerged from the relocated sea turtle eggs final December, guarded to maintain them secure throughout excessive tide and shield them from predators.

“The pawikan eggs within the first nest had been laid final December and we’re counting 52 days for them to emerge and information them again to their pure habitat,” he mentioned.

Biag mentioned there are two extra nests on the hatchery and they’re anticipating them to emerge till February.

The pawikan hatchery in Currimao city was established final 12 months and the coastal villages of Pangil all the way in which to Paguludan are considered pawikan sanctuary.

Marine sea turtles typically lay their eggs from nightfall until daybreak and the height season is from November to March.
